I almost didn’t write this article.
I have been waiting all week to write this article.
Somewhere in the back of my mind, I kept telling myself that I needed to feel like it. So I postponed it. Every day something else felt more important, and I kept waiting for the “creativity spark”.
Until this Easter Sunday morning, I realised something.
It won’t happen.
If I don’t decide to sit down and write, I won’t suddenly feel like it.
Because in life, there is always something that needs to be done.
You might recognise this from a wellness perspective too.
Maybe you are waiting for the perfect time to start.
When you finally feel like it.
When there are no holidays planned.
When your calendar is completely clear for 6, 8, or even 12 weeks.
[And if your calendar looks anything like mine, that’s very unlikely.]
So another month passes… and you keep waiting.
This morning I realised something simple, yet powerful: there is no perfect time to start doing things.
As the saying goes:
“The best time was yesterday. The second-best time is now.”
I also realised something deeper.
Part of the reason I was waiting for the perfect moment and the creativity spark was because, deep down, I wanted to be sure that what I write wouldn’t be just good, but great.
The expectation of making this article perfect was stopping me from even starting.
So here is the cure I found this morning for that feeling of “I’ve already lost three months of this year”.
Start now.
And start imperfectly.
Don’t waste another day or month in inaction, feeling frustrated or disappointed.
Instead, take back control over how you show up and how you feel about yourself.
Because sometimes you are just one decision away from feeling completely different.
As always, written with love and care,
